Warner Bros. Games announced today an expanded version of 2019's Mortal Kombat 11, aptly titled Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate. This definitive edition will include an array of new fighters like the persistently requested returns of Mileena and Rain, as well as newcomer Rambo, which uses the voice and likeness of actor Sylvester Stallone.

The updated version also includes all previous DLC from the original title including the first Kombat Pack which brought The Joker, Terminator T-800, Spawn, and various veteran fighters like Shang Tsung, Nightwolf, and Sindel to the game as well as the expanded story mode with the Aftermath expansion. This is absolutely the version fans will want to own if they want to experience every bit of content Mortal Kombat 11 has to offer.

This much content may be enough to please fans of the franchise, but that's not all Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate is offering fans. Warner Bros. Games also announced that fans who own the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One editions of either Mortal Kombat 11 or Mortal Kombat 11: Ultimate will have access to a free upgraded version to the PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X/S versions of their respective game as well. The next-gen versions will deliver stunning 4K dynamic resolution with enhanced visuals as well as improved load times to truly make this the best way to experience Mortal Kombat 11.

If that wasn't enough, Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate also offers the ability for fans who play on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, or Xbox One to duke it out with each other across various modes in the cleverly named Krossplay Support. Not only will this edition include a lot of content, but being able to play with other fans across various platforms should boost its replay value significantly. While there are no specifics on which modes are available for Krossplay, fans can be assured that at the very least they'll be able to battle in standard fights in this mode.

This announcement may not be a huge surprise to Mortal Kombat fans, though. Mortal Kombat X, the previous entry, followed a similar tactic when NetherRealm Studios released a definitive version with Mortal Kombat XL. Both of these updated editions include all of the DLC packaged within the game at a smaller price than purchasing the original game and all DLC separately.

Although many fans predicted the announcement of this game, it is certainly a warm welcome as the sheer multitude of DLC alone is worth more than the $59.99 price tag, the price of the original game before any of the DLC characters released.

Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate will release on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X on November 17.
