It's been a busy week for the folks at NetherRealm Studios as the many teases and rumors finally were confirmed in the upcoming ultimate edition for Mortal Kombat 11. In addition to featuring all previously released content, it also comes with Kombat Pack 2, which finally reintroducing fan favorite characters like Mileena and Rain. The pack also adds another action star guest character in John Rambo, who was also given the spotlight in his own trailer.

The latest Mortal Kombat 11 trailer details a match between Rambo and Kabal, likely not the first choice many would hope to see, especially with other classic action icons on the roster like The Terminator. In addition to his default skin, the trailer also reveals outfits from many different Rambo movies, which should make fans quite happy.

Gameplay-wise, Rambo doesn't appear to be the gun-toting ranged character most figured he'd be based off of the reveal trailer. Instead, Rambo brandishes a large bowie knife and has a number of brutal close range attacks including a drop kick that would likely put a smile on Erron Black's face. Rambo does pull out a bow during the match, has a combat roll to go under projectiles, and also has a military crawl move that not only keeps the character low, but if they reach the other player, Rambo will grab their leg and perform a crushing blow. Obviously, the character has access to a number of trap-style moves as well including a screen-wide spiked log, planting claymores, and some sort of projectile tripwire.

Towards the end of the trailer, players get a look at Rambo's violent fatal blow which has him stabbing the victim through the leg, chest, and neck before taking an explosive arrow and slamming it through their head. At this point, he kicks them off before taking the arrow and firing it at them as they're flying backwards. For one of his fatalities, Rambo flings his knife at his opponent, causing them to walk backwards into a trap which impales them with bamboo spikes. As they're recoiling in horror, Rambo approaches them from behind, grabs their head, and rips out their throat.

In addition to Rambo, NetherRealm recently showed off Rain who looks to be a solid balance between what fans remember of the character as well as introducing a few new tools as well. While the character retains his iconic moves like Super Roundhouse, Shocking Bolt, as well as Water Bubble, the character also have wave kicks, a water ball which goes full screen, as well as an interesting looking move called evaporate which protects him from damage. With Rambo getting featured in the next Kombat Kast, its only a matter of time until Mileena gets the spotlight.

Mortal Kombat 11 is available now on PC, PS4, Stadia, Switch, and Xbox One, with versions for PS5 and Xbox Series X currently in development.
