It seems like it's been forever since Spawn was announced as a guest character for Mortal Kombat 11, and while fans have waited patiently, most of what they've seen has been the occasional tease and Spawn character model render. However, during Final Kombat today, NetherRealm debuted the first major trailer for Spawn.

Like many other Mortal Kombat 11 trailers, Spawn's gameplay reveal offers a pretty healthy look at the character's model and moves in action. It has the visceral, punchy action that many fans were hoping for, not to mention a lot of the violent gore that Mortal Kombat fans are accustomed to.

Spawn has been a highly anticipated character since his announcement, with many anxiously awaiting playing as him in-game. Previously, Joker landed in Mortal Kombat 11continuing a streak of successful guest characters within the game. There is likely more on the horizon too, as a second Kombat Pack is expected sometime in the future for the game. With any luck, Spawn will live up to fan expectations, and prove to be a valuable addition to the roster.

Spawn does have a particularly brutal Fatality, too. In the trailer, Spawn is seen skinning Scorpion alive, only to cover him with his cape and shed away his flesh until nothing is left but a skeleton and a few guts. Of course, that's likely one of several Fatalities, so there will probably be quite a few other brutal moments for the character in-game.

Earlier today, Spawn's creator Todd McFarlane revealed some ideas he has for the Mortal Kombat franchise. McFarlane would likely be able to bring quite a bit to the table for Mortal Kombat's character design and narrative, and it would be interesting to see the creator work more with the team in the future, even if that means something as simple as occasionally consulting with the team.

Mortal Kombat 11 has been one of the best entries in the franchise yet, and Spawn should make the game even better. There's plenty to like about the character, even just going off the trailer. Seeing Spawn match up against the likes of the Joker and the Terminator is sure to be interesting, too. Luckily, fans only have a few more days until Spawn is playable.

Mortal Kombat 11 is available now. Spawn releases March 17th for Kombat Pass holders.
