Dominique "SonicFox" McLean is recognized as one of the top fighting game players in the world, and even won the award for Best eSports Player at The Game Awards 2018. Whereas many eSports players generally stick to one game that they specialize in, SonicFox is notable for playing a variety of fighting games, including NetherRealm's latest offering, Mortal Kombat 11. After spending about a week with Mortal Kombat 11, SonicFox has revealed his top three fighters in the game.

SonicFox's Mortal Kombat 11 tier list includes Geras (2nd variation), Sonya Blade, and Erron Black as the top three fighters. Sonya Blade is a series mainstay and Erron Black was introduced in Mortal Kombat X, but Geras made his debut in Mortal Kombat 11. Fighters on the MK11 roster have multiple "variations" with different moves and the like, which is why SonicFox has specified that the second variation for Geras is in his top three fighters.

In the future, it's quite possible that SonicFox's Mortal Kombat 11 tier list could change. After all, NetherRealm will no doubt update Mortal Kombat 11 to nerf certain fighters or moves, as well as make under-powered characters a little stronger. These balance changes could significantly shake up the Mortal Kombat 11 competitive scene, and impact not just SonicFox's tier list, but Mortal Kombat 11 tier lists in general.

We took into account a number of different Mortal Kombat 11 tier lists and combined them with our opinion to create our own Mortal Kombat 11 tier list. In our Mortal Kombat 11 tier list, we had Erron Black in the S-Tier category, with Geras in A-Tier, so we more or less agree with SonicFox on those characters. However, we and other outlets listed Sonya Blade as one of the weaker characters in Mortal Kombat 11, categorizing her as a C-tier fighter.

Sonya Blade's appearance in Mortal Kombat 11 has been the source of some controversy, mainly due to Ronda Rousey. Many Mortal Kombat 11 fans have responded negatively to Ronda Rousey's voice acting as Sonya Blade, and past controversial comments by the current WWE star and former UFC fighter have also rubbed some people the wrong way.

Of course, Sonya's voice actor doesn't determine her worth as a character on the roster, and so many others have been able to look past the Ronda Rousey controversy. It will be interesting to see just how much she is used in competitive play moving forward.

Mortal Kombat 11 is out now for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
