Mortal Kombat 11 Reveals Sindel Story Ending

Mortal Kombat 11 Reveals Sindel Story Ending

Mortal Kombat 11 fans finally have Sindel's full story after the release of her character's ending cut scene. The video was released November 21st, only days before early release players will get to fight with her in-game.

Mortal Kombat 11 is the latest in the MK series, a bloody fighting game that celebrates violence for the sake of violence. This installment's story mode features different endings for each character in the game, showing how that particular character would use (or benefit from) the powers of the final boss, a time-controlling, god-like Titan named Kronika. Mortal Kombat 11 has years' worth of DLC planned for the future, each adding new characters to the story.

With the DLC adding Sindel coming up soon, NetherRealm studios released a glimpse into what her gaining time powers would look like for the realms. This frightening video shows Sindel defeating Kronika and taking possession of the hourglass that controls timelines, crowning herself the Empress of Time and enslaving all the realms for her own.

In a surprising turn of events, Sindel explains why she was a considered a "good guy" in the first games of the MK series and is now an antagonist. She claims that she killed her first husband and married Shao Kahn of her own free will, lying to her subjects only to keep them in line. While Sindel's storyline retcon has been something of a controversy, this explanation seems to fit with this timeline's version of Sindel.

Between Sindel's gruesome fatalities and her devil-may-care attitude, it's hard not to like this new, evil-from-the-beginning version of the character. Although the previous, "good" Sindel had a lot of depth and was a great character, there's something incredibly appealing about this selfish, self-serving version of her that draws fans of the universe in. Sindel will be a fantastic addition in this upcoming DLC not only to the story mode, but also as a fighter as well.

However, it would have been nice to see a little more of an explanation for her retcon other than "because she lied." As stated before, Sindel's good guy character is a gold mine of potential amazing stories. The good part of her battling with the evil part of her would have made for not only a more interesting story and character, but also once was a rumor to explain Sindel's "ghost" in pre-spoiler screenshots. While the evil version of her is fun, Evil Sindel is a really flat character without much going on besides her selfishness. A deeper version of her character would have built interest and could have brought together the two timelines, the one where Sindel was a good guy and this newer timeline where she is bad.
