Mortal Kombat 11 Shaggy Petition Hits Crazy New Milestone

A new meme has taken the internet by storm, and it's all about how Scooby-Doo character Shaggy Rogers is an unstoppable, God-like figure. Now, Mortal Kombat 11 fans have been signing a petition to add Shaggy, the best friend of series namesake Scooby-Doo, to the fighting game's roster as a guest character.

Because of the popularity of Mortal Kombat 11 and the viral Shaggy memes, this petition has skyrocketed in popularity as well. When the news of the petition broke, it had only garnered around 1,500 signatures. But in approximately 24 hours, that number has hit 50,000+ signatures (and growing). If nothing else, these numbers speak to the power of the internet.

Looking at the reasons some decided to sign the petition, it's clear how influential these Shaggy memes were. Reasons include, but are not limited to, the following: "I'm scared of what Shaggy will do if I don't," I'm signing this so that when I play against my brother I will only have to use 10% of my power to defeat him," and "[Shaggy] could finally cut loose and use 0.00005% of his power." Moreover, many also cited the inclusion of Shaggy as a reason that they would either purchase or not purchase Mortal Kombat 11, and many also wanted to see Shaggy perform a fatality.

Of course, the actual inclusion of Shaggy is incredibly unlikely, due to both the nature of the game and the cartoon series being in severe contrast. That said, this petition was also likely created in jest, but if it continues to grow like it did with this milestone, it may very well be addressed (if not submitted to). This doesn't stop a mod from adding Shaggy into Mortal Kombat 11, however, as mods have done some pretty crazy things, like adding Deadpool to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

Regardless of the actualities of the situation, many have signed the petition and will likely continue to sign. For those who want to add their name to the petition, it can be checked out right here at Change.Org. Zoinks!

Mortal Kombat 11 launches on April 23 for PC, PS4, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One.
