NetherRealm Studios has officially announced Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath, a full-fledged expansion for MK11 that adds new story content, stages, gameplay features, and perhaps most excitingly, three new playable characters to the game. The Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath expansion was first leaked a couple months ago, but it's safe to say that few were expecting it to include quite this much content.

The Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath expansion will be available on May 26, and it will add three new playable characters to the game, all of whom were previously leaked by dataminers. Beginning May 26, Mortal Kombat 11 players that purchase the Aftermath expansion can add Fujin and Sheeva to their roster of playable characters, along with special guest character and 80s action movie icon RoboCop.

Not only is RoboCop coming to Mortal Kombat 11, but he will be played by Peter Weller. Weller portrayed RoboCop in both the original 1987 film and its 1990 sequel RoboCop 2, which should make the RoboCop DLC for Mortal Kombat 11 even more exciting for fans.

No other new DLC characters were confirmed by NetherRealm with the Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath announcement. However, it was revealed that the game will be adding three more character skin packs at some point down the line. Details on what exactly those character skin packs will entail are unavailable at the time of this writing, but fans should be able to expect more information in the weeks and months ahead.

By releasing three new DLC characters to Mortal Kombat 11 at once, it seems like rumors of a Kombat Pack 2 were incorrect. It seems unlikely that NetherRealm is planning on releasing even more DLC characters for Mortal Kombat 11, so fans shouldn't get their hopes up that Ash Williams from Evil Dead will be coming to the game as has been rumored for quite some time.

In the meantime, it will be interesting to see how the Mortal Kombat 11 RoboCop DLC stacks up when compared to other guest fighters that have been released for the game. RoboCop joins the likes of The Terminator, The Joker, and Spawn, so fan expectations have been set pretty high. Luckily, with all three DLC characters seemingly coming to Mortal Kombat 11 on May 26, fans only have to wait a few weeks to find out more.

Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath will launch on May 26 for PC, PS4, Stadia, Switch, and Xbox One.
