With Mortal Kombat 11's release date set for just over a week from today, fans are no doubt ecstatic for the next game in the popular fighting game franchise. Though despite the established Mortal Kombat 11 release date being April 23, at least one person seems to have gotten it way earlier than expected.

Reddit user Datrael didn't have to wait quite as long as other players looking forward to playing Mortal Kombat 11. Datrael received their physical copy of the game on April 15, eight days prior to its official release date. Datrael provided a photo of the inside of the game case on Reddit as evidence, as well as multiple screenshots and answers to questions for those willing to wade into spoiler territory, including info on one of Mortal Kombat 11's unlockable characters.

Additionally, Datrael attempted to share links to multiple gameplay videos in the Reddit thread, which were up for a while given that there are pertinent replies. However, while the screenshots are still fresh and ready for viewing, the videos are no longer available to watch as per an error message which reads that the videos have been removed "as a result of a third-party notification by Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc. that claims this material is infringing on their copyright."

As it stands, street dates have been broken before. For example, a while back, while slated for launch November 29, 2016, the Final Fantasy 15 street date had broken and players used the opportunity to stream gameplay as such. Regardless, publishers have always, arguably rightfully, sought to stop leaks from spreading where they can, especially just days ahead of release. It's understandable that Datrael wanted to share the excitement of Mortal Kombat 11 with other fans of the franchise, but others may feel bad for NetherRealm that a game it's worked years on leaked early to the public.

It's possible other people have their hands on an early copy of Mortal Kombat 11 as well, though if they do, they're being quiet about it. In the meantime, the wait for everyone else to play Mortal Kombat 11 is almost over.

Mortal Kombat 11 is officially set to launch April 23, 2019 for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
