At the end of June, Shang Tsung joined the Mortal Kombat 11 roster as the game's first DLC fighter, and it is looking increasingly likely that Nightwolf is the next MK11 DLC character on deck. Introduced in Mortal Kombat 3, many are likely to associate this Native American fighter with his leather vest and glowing tomahawks, which he can use to mount a vicious assault. However, there are more details to know about Nightwolf, and some of those details are quite odd indeed.

For those that have already watched the Mortal Kombat 11 Nightwolf teaser trailer ad nauseam, and are looking for another way to pass the time until the MK11 DLC fighter's eventual release, here are five totally weird facts about Nightwolf:

5 1. He's a computer wiz.

In 1996, the animated series Mortal Kombat: Defenders of the Earth Realm followed a group of MK characters as they worked to protect Earthrealm from intruders invading from other dimensions. While occasionally joining the battle, Nightwolf's role in the show was primarily that of tech support, trading in his tomahawk for a keyboard and using his computer skills to monitor the portals that let the assailants into Earthrealm.

4 2. He has a pet wolf named Kiva.

As his name might imply, Nightwolf has an affinity for wolves, and he can communicate with them as well as assume their form. However, Nightwolf's connection to wolves runs even deeper, as, in Mortal Kombat: Defenders of the Realm, he has his very own pet wolf named Kiva. Nightwolf and Kiva have a very special bond, and the two can fuse together to grant the forthcoming Mortal Kombat 11 DLC character with enhanced power.

3 3. He's a fan of Stone Temple Pilots and wears Oakleys.

In 1997, the live-action movie Mortal Kombat: Annihilation brought Nightwolf to life, and he was fashioned in a way that was not unfamiliar to fans of the forthcoming addition to the Mortal Kombat 11 character roster. However, that was not the case in the film's shooting script and movie novelization where Nightwolf donned a Stone Temple Pilots t-shirt and a pair of Oakley sunglasses. I guess that I need to rethink that mixtape I've been putting together for him.

2 4. He can transform into Raiden.

While the first Mortal Kombat 11 DLC character Shang Tsung is known for his ability to transform into other fighters, Nightwolf is not. However, Nightwolf's Friendship from Mortal Kombat 3 offers some unexpected information, as the fighter, apparently, has the ability to turn himself into Raiden. Indeed, it seems that the form of a wolf is not the only one that Nightwolf can assume.

1 5. He's an excellent juggler.

In the N64 version of Mortal Kombat Trilogy, Nightwolf's aforementioned Friendship was swapped out for one that depicts the Mortal Kombat 11 DLC fighter juggling his tomahawks. While they may not be covered with the green ectoplasm that can be seen when he uses his weapon for an assault, Nightwolf's carnival skills are both unexpected and impressive.

Less than two weeks ago, the first image of Mortal Kombat 11's Nightwolf was shared, increasing many fan's excitement about the day that he will be part of the MK11 roster. While there is currently no official word on exactly when this Nightwolf release date will come,

Mortal Kombat 11 is out now for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One, with a Stadia version in development.
