Mortal Kombat 11 Teases New Krypt Event

NetherRealm Studios is preparing to start its second Mortal Kombat 11 Krypt Event, according to creative director Ed Boon. The co-creator of the Mortal Kombat franchise teased the upcoming event on Twitter with the words, "KRYPT EVENT 2 Koming Soon." The Twitter post included an image of a skeleton sitting among an array of candles. This skeleton is likely the location where the next Krypt Event reward will be found, so Krypt hunters can start early.

This will be the second Krypt Event for Mortal Kombat 11 since the game's launch in April. It's a completely new event from NetherRealm, with the first having run its duration just a week ago. The format is rather simple, tasking players with hunting down a special gold Kronika Vault within the Krypt. These chests offer special, specific rewards that players won't necessarily find in other places. Of course, NetherRealm could change the format of these Krypt Events at any time.

Here's how it works, if things remain the same. The start of the Krypt Event will be announced by Ed Boon on Twitter alongside a hint about the Vault's location. He'll also tease the rewards that players will earn if they find it. Players will have just 24 hours to scour the Krypt looking for golden Kronika Vault. After the 24 hours are up, the golden Vault will disappear, presumably never to be seen again.

The first Krypt Event's hint was "Look to La Luna" and featured a photo of the player looking at the moon, huge in the sky. Players who found this location could follow a bridge back into an alcove where the golden Kronika Vault was found. The loot inside of it included the Jax Klassic arms for Jax Briggs, the Mythic-quality Steel Patriot Skin for Jax Briggs, and 500 Time Krystals.

Mortal Kombat 11 players will be pleased to see NetherRealm delivering more content week-to-week. Even if it's as simple as putting a hidden chest in the Krypt, effectively creating a treasure hunt, it's a reason for players to be excited to play more Mortal Kombat 11. It also capitalizes on Ed Boon's addiction to dropping news and announcements on Twitter. If you can't stop Boon from posting, then why not make the most of it?

Expect more news on the next Mortal Kombat 11 Krypt event soon. And remember, it only lasts for 24 hours, so don't miss the announcement and end up missing the loot as a result.

Mortal Kombat 11 is available now on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One, with a Stadia version also in development.
