Fans already suspected that Kotal Kahn would be making a return in the upcoming Mortal Kombat 11, with a brief teaser from the official Mortal Kombat Twitter account practically confirming it. As of yesterday, we now have an official reveal courtesy of a brand new trailer which shows off the Aztec warrior in all his bluish-green glory.

One of the newest characters to join the gory franchise, Kotal Kahn first appeared in Mortal Kombat X, where he had taken over as the new emperor of Outworld following the death of Shao Kahn (who will also be returning as a pre-order bonus character) and his overthrowing of Mileena. He was certainly a tad nicer than those two, even allying with Cassie Cage's squad briefly, but misunderstandings and the return of that game's big bad Shinnok led to him battling and attempting to kill the heroes. According to what we saw in the story trailer for the game, though, it looks like he'll be siding with Raiden (the not evil one) and the good guys once more.

He's not the only star in the new trailer, however, as we also get a proper look at another MKX character - Jacqui Briggs, daughter of Jax. She was seen briefly in the story trailer as well, where we got to see what looked like part of one of her new Fatalities, and she demonstrates her second one in full on Kotal Kahn (in his own trailer, no less).

Both characters seem to have roughly similar playstyles to their appearances in the previous game but they also have plenty of new tricks for Mortal Kombat 11. Jacqui, who originally wore military gear and a pair of mechanical gauntlets, now sports a slightly more futuristic set of armor and hits hard with her kicks just as much as her punches, along with what looks like a lot of projectile attacks.

Kotal Kahn, meanwhile, still wields a massive sword that doubles as a saw, he can use the sun to burn his opponent, and looks to function like a grappler character again. His newest trick is the power to turn into a panther or jaguar of some kind. Sadly, we don't get to see either his Fatal Blow special move or either of his Fatalities.

Mortal Kombat 11 is set to release on PS4, Xbox One, PC and Switch on April 23rd.
