Netherrealm Studios surprised a lot of Mortal Kombat 11 fans last month when they announced the Aftermath expansion. Not only did it add three new characters but it continued the storyline from the main game through the Aftermath expansion. While the expansion and a free update expanded the game with plenty of new content, many fans have been wondering if this is the end of the road for the game or if the developer has more content coming.

Seemingly out of nowhere on the Mortal Kombat 11 subReddit, a user claiming to work with Netherrealm Studios indicated that the studio isn't done with releasing new characters. They went on to deconfirm a number of characters like John Wick, Deathstroke, Doom Slayer, and Michael Myers while also confirming that Injustice 3 isn't the next planned game. However, the big news is that the studio seems to be putting together a third Kombat Pack which is set to feature 3 male MK specific characters (1 which is described as an unfortunate bystander) and 1 female guest character.

The leaker goes on to indicate that the current global pandemic has slowed the studio down a little bit but most of the content has already been created and is nearing completion. As exciting as this may seem, it's worth mentioning that this leak is currently unverified so fans should take it all with a grain of salt until news breaks from official Netherrealm channels.

Naturally, this latest rumor has set the community off with new speculation and wish lists. Everyone has their favorites and narrowing down the possibilities is that much harder when considering that many character endings feature cameos from well known characters. Fans have already speculate that Buffy the Vampire Slayer could be the female guest based off of a poll that Ed Boon put up on his twitter back for Injustice 2. While fans will likely never stop hoping to see fan-favorite characters like Rain, Mileena, and Reptile, there are a few characters who have shown up a bit more consistently in Mortal Kombat 11.

Havik, a character that made his debut in Mortal Kombat Deception, has either been shown or referenced in a number of ways in Mortal Kombat 11. Havik is shown working with the Joker in his ending, while Shang Tsung specifically name drops him inside of the Aftermath expansion after banishes Geras to the Chaosrealm. Cyrax and Sektor were also prominent inside of the campaign with 3D models and moves, so it's possible these two robots make their return as well. The red ninja Ermac has also been seen as a possible fit for the description of unfortunate bystander as players see his death in the Crypt as he's impaled on the spikes below The Pit.

The DLC news, while unofficial, does line up with a recent datamine that discovered the existence of another upcoming DLC character. The previously mentioned red robot Sektor recently had audio files added giving him interactions with every character on the roster, a strange addition for the currently non-playable story NPC fighter. Perhaps the robot duo Cyrax and Sektor will be part of the rumored third Kombat Pack after all.

Mortal Kombat 11 is out now for PC, PS4, Stadia, Switch, and Xbox One.
