As the first Kombat Pack of Mortal Kombat 11 draws to a close with the release of its final DLC fighter Spawn in March, developer Netherrealm Studios continues to remain tight-lipped on details of a Kombat Pack 2, which would bring with it a slew of new fighters to play. While the existence of a second Kombat Pack has yet to be confirmed or denied, fans expect the roll out of new characters to begin shortly after Spawn's debut, but with that date fast approaching, many are wondering why there's next to nothing known about the supposedly imminent release.

The first Kombat Pack was announced in the Spring of 2019, promising an incremental release of a new DLC character every two months over the course of the year. Since then, the new additions to the roster, which feature guest fighters like The Terminator and The Joker as well as returning Mortal Kombat fan-favorites like Shang Tsung and Nightwolf, have been met with a warm reception from fans, although some criticized the slow rollout of MK11 DLC characters as well as the pack's steep price tag of $39.99.

Mortal Kombat 11's developer has promised "years of content,"  so it's reasonable to assume that a second Kombat Pack is on its way. Given the past year's release schedule of a new fighter every two months, history would suggest that fans can expect it to arrive in May. So why isn't Netherrealm revealing anything about it? With rumors buzzing about the fabled Kombat Pack 2, and a supposed leak possibly confirming its existence along with a roster of fighters including Sheeva, Halloween's Michael Myers, and Ash Williams from The Evil Dead, now is the time for Netherrealm to strike while the iron is hot and reveal Kombat Pack 2.

If the leak is nothing more than a rumor, Netherrealm would be wise to shut it down now, either by announcing the real planned roster or by denying Kombat Pack 2's existence. The latest Mortal Kombat 11 rumor has fans excited, and the longer the studio takes to reveal the truth, the more disappointed the consumer base is going to be.

On the other hand, if the MK11 leaks are true, now is still the best time to officially announce it. If Netherrealm makes a grand announcement two months from now and Kombat Pack 2 ends up being everything that the leak predicted, the reveal is going to be underwhelming. No matter how what the state of the game's future looks like, MK 11's best bet would be to show its hand.

Of course, there's always the possibility that Netherrealm is keeping their cards close to their chest for a very good reason. If the leaks aren't true and what Mortal Kombat 11 has planned for its second year of DLC is even better than fans can imagine, then it would be well within reason for Netherrealm to keep quiet about what it has in store.

Outside this, there's only one main reason why fans want MK 11 to reveal its plans for Kombat Pack 2: the people want to know. While the anticipation may be too much for some, gamers can rest assured that the end is in sight. Whether the developer releases information about Kombat Pack 2 now, or decides to take its time, players can expect to know what's in store for the future of Mortal Kombat 11 very soon, perhaps before or slightly after MK11's Spawn releases.

Mortal Kombat 11 is out now for PC, PS4, Stadia, Switch, and Xbox One.
