With the release of Mortal Kombat 11 inching ever closer, details on the roster that will be featured in NetherRealm Studios' newest fighting game are coming increasingly into focus. In today's Kombat Kast, yet another character was officially confirmed for the title, and fans can now look forward to taking Kabal into battle when the new entry launches.

After appearing only as an NPC in Mortal Kombat X, Kabal is back in full force for Mortal Kombat 11, and he is equipped with his signature Hook Swords. Watching the gameplay trailer that premiered during the Kombat Kast, fans will get a taste of just how brutal and devastating these weapons appear to be.

For example, in a battle with Sub-Zero, Kabal uses his swords to grab his opponent, by the leg, shoulder, and torso, before smashing the ice-wielding fighter into the ground. When fighting Sonya Blade, the newly confirmed combatant turns a well-placed sword into an opportunity to furiously spin his opponent and then launch her unceremoniously.

These close-range melee attacks are not all that Kabal has at his disposal, however, and the trailer showcases a dash attack that will be familiar to those that have followed the franchise over the years. Additionally, projectiles, gas attacks, and more are set to round out his offensive arsenal in Mortal Kombat 11.

While getting a peak at Kabal's moveset will certainly be exciting to many fans, the video goes one step further, depicting a particularly gruesome fatality that he can execute. Specifically, the fatality shows Kabal drag Sub-Zero across the ground at lightning speed, tearing his face asunder, before cleanly splitting him in two with the Hook Swords.

For fans that have been following Mortal Kombat 11's development closely, Kabal's place on the roster may not come as a surprise — he was briefly spotted in video shown during a past reveal event. However, today's confirmation will be welcomed by those that are champing at the bit for official details on the title.

With the addition of Kabal, players now have a sizable pool of confirmed characters to think about before Mortal Kombat 11's release, including Shao Khan who is available as a pre-order incentive. That said, as release day approaches, fans can rest assured that more fighters will be revealed.

Mortal Kombat 11 releases April 23, 2019 for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
