Following Mortal Kombat 11's Winter Wonderland holiday event that took place last week, the game has gotten a new teaser trailer celebrating the new year and the forthcoming arrival of a new DLC fighter. Specifically, it's a teaser hyping up the eventual addition of Batman's Joker to Mortal Kombat 11's growing roster of fighters.

It has been known for a while now that Joker will be coming to Mortal Kombat 11 as a DLC fighter, even with a prominent role in NetherRealm's DC comic-focused fighting game, Injustice: Gods Among Us. Nonetheless, many consider Joker to be a perfect addition to the existing lengthy roster.

In celebration of the new year and Joker's coming addition, the Mortal Kombat Twitter account tweeted a short trailer that teased the Joker. The tweet and trailer can be seen below.

As may be implied above, the Joker's story is strongly hinted at in this Mortal Kombat 11 teaser. The trailer is first focused on some celebratory fireworks in the sky. Soon after, the camera pans down to a brick wall littered with the word "ha" and numerous smiley-faces. The camera continues to pan down to a cane. The screen then goes black with text wishing viewers a happy new year and teasing the Joker's January arrival. The trailer is accompanied by Joker laughing near the end.

While the teaser trailer is also humorous in and of itself, with the Joker or one of his affiliates ironically shooting off fireworks likely in celebration of New Year's Day, yet amidst sounding aforementioned alarms, the teaser trailer might be somewhat indicative of the Joker DLC's arcade content. Essentially, players may get to witness the escape of Joker from Arkham Asylum or some other institution, leading to an end either liberating for the Joker or an end seeing him come to power. Otherwise, his arcade mode could lead to something entirely different.

In terms of gameplay, there hasn't been much to analyze regarding Joker. This is aside from the cane that has been present in Joker's previews thus far, which illustrate that the cane may be one of his primary weapons.

Mortal Kombat 11 is currently available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, PC, and Google Stadia.
