About a week ago, NetherRealm Studios Creative Director Ed Boon teased to fans that there are even more classic characters to come in the latest entry of the company's long-running fighting game franchise, Mortal Kombat 11. Now, it looks as if Boon is as good as his word in this case, with the developer having confirmed the return of Shao Kahn's once personal assassin–that is, the emerald green bodice-wearing fighter known as Jade.

In Mortal Kombat 11, Jade has been resurrected by an evil sorcerer, and she serves the Netherrealm as an undead Revenant, fighting enemies with the use of her bo staff, razorrang, and various supernatural skills. The latest trailer for MK11 gives players a peek at how Jade will measure up in combat against opponents like Baraka, Sonya Blade, and Skarlet, with her aforementioned weaponry and teleportation moves giving her quick mid-to-long range attacks. She comes prepared defensively as well, by being capable of momentarily shifting into an untouchable specter and having the ability to bat projectiles back at enemies.

As previously mentioned, Jade is far from the only returning character being brought back into the fold with Mortal Kombat 11's roster, as NetherRealm Studios confirmed that the fan-favorite Kabal would be back in full force for the sequel. On top of these inclusions, it definitely looks as if the developer is pulling from its entire pool of playable characters from the series' lengthy history, with Kano and MKX's D'Vorah coming back, too.

With Mortal Kombat 11's launch still a ways off from now, Jade won't be the last fighter to be confirmed for the title, which means that fan speculation regarding roster leaks will continue unabated for the time being. As of now, there are plenty of rumors related to the possible return of Stryker, Erron Black, and even Rain joining MK11 as playable characters. Plus, there's even the possibility that Spawn could be featured as a guest character. Of course, we will just have to wait until NetherRealm Studios decides to tell us who's next.

Mortal Kombat 11 is scheduled to release on April 23, 2019 for PC, PlayStation 4, Switch, and Xbox One.
