Last week, an update brought Mortal Kombat 11's newest DLC character, Sindel, to NetherRealm Studios' highly-popular fighting game. As is often the case with these types of updates, the one that launched Sindel contained files associated with content that is not yet available in MK11, and fans have been sifting through these files ever since the update's release. Indeed, several new pieces of content have been discovered through this process, and that includes some holiday-themed rewards that players can look forward to.

Specifically, it seems that fans will be able to celebrate Christmas and the New Year by obtaining a set of new Kombat Kard icons and new Kombat Kard backgrounds in Mortal Kombat 11. While not confirmed at this time, it is likely that these seasonal rewards will be available through holiday Towers of Time, perhaps similar to the MK11 Thanksgiving Towers, which fans should expect to arrive in the upcoming weeks.

With respect to the rewards themselves, seven Kombat Kard icons and seven Kombat Kard backgrounds have been thus far discovered in the Mortal Kombat 11 game files. While the backgrounds are fairly stock, featuring scenes that are clearly evocative of the holiday season, the icons are something special, and many players will be happy to have them as new options for customizing their Kombat Kards.

These Mortal Kombat 11 Kombat Kard icons range from Raiden decorated as a Christmas tree to Johnny Cage ringing in 2020, and they can all be viewed below. Additionally, there is one icon in the set that clearly stands out among the rest, and that is an apparent Taco Tuesday-inspired icon featuring Baraka. For players that really want to show their devotion to Mexican food, it seems that there will be a Taco-centric background as well.

New backgrounds and icons are not all that have been recently discovered in the game files, though, as players have also unearthed some information on the next season of the Mortal Kombat 11 Kombat League – namely, that its theme will be "death." Unfortunately, datamining has not yet revealed any of the skins that will be available in Kombat League Season 7, but it is only a matter of time before fans get a look at those new cosmetics.

Mortal Kombat 11 is out now for PC, PS4, Stadia, Switch, and Xbox One.
