Earlier this month, Mortal Kombat 11 received another boost in the form of The Terminator joining the playable roster. The latest DLC fighter manages to faithfully capture what makes the character so iconic from its moveset and animations down to the metal exoskeleton. New characters are not the only content being added to the game, however, as Warner Bros. and NetherRealm Studios recently announced a special Halloween-themed event that will be coming to the game next week.
The free in-game event kicks off next week on October 25 and is set to add a more haunted vibe to Mortal Kombat 11. Four new boss fights will be available in game each with their own special Halloween themed modifiers to add a new layer of challenge. These include things like flying witches and bats, pumpkins that rain down on the combatants, gravestones rising out of the floor, and black cats running across the screen.
This event also features brand new items to collect such as new brutalities, Halloween consumables, and other earnable in-game rewards. For those willing to spend a bit of money, the Masquerade Skin Pack is now available for $5.99 and includes three new skins like Wicked Witch Jade, Psyko Killer Kabal, and Calavera Liu Kang.
Lastly, the recently revealed Team Raid mode also launches on October 18 in a free update for all players. It adds a new multiplayer tower to the Towers of Time experience where up to three players need to work together to complete group challenges while each fighting one powerful boss character at the same.
In addition to more planned post-launch content such as additional characters like Spawn, Ed Boon has been teasing that the studio is working on a big surprise for Mortal Kombat 11 in 2020. Naturally, Boon wouldn't reveal much more, leaving the community to wonder if NetherRealm's Creative Director was referring to the assumed second Kombat Pack or something else entirely. Whatever the case, NetherRealm has already demonstrated that the studio intends to keep Mortal Kombat 11 active well into 2020 thanks to consistent updates, new characters, and additional game modes like the upcoming Raid Battles.
Mortal Kombat 11 is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One, with a Stadia version also in development.
