Today's Mortal Kombat 11 Kommunity Reveal event live stream included a wealth of information about the forthcoming multi-platform fighting game, including who will be returning to do battle in the sequel. In addition to slew of fan-favorites making a comeback, MK11 also confirmed it will be adding a brand new character called Geras by releasing his debut gameplay trailer during the event.

According to Geras' reveal trailer, the new Mortal Kombat 11 fighter appears to not only be a domineering force in hand-to-hand combat, but also he possesses supernatural abilities that allows him to freeze time and manipulate the integrity of the environment to create sand-based items. Although he's a completely new character, some of Geras' powers can be likened to those of Green Lantern from Injustice 2, with the MK11 fighter's move set including lots of objects generated out of thin air.

As of writing, Geras is the only new fighter to be confirmed for Mortal Kombat 11, as NetherRealm Studios decided to use the game's Kommunity Reveal event as a showcase for some returning characters that were absent from MKX. For instance, it has been revealed that Baraka will be making a comeback, as well as MK9's fan-favorite DLC fighter known as Skarlet. Only time will tell as to who else will be joining in the bloody fray.

Beyond the roster members themselves, Mortal Kombat 11 will also afford players the ability to customize characters with an in-depth gear system so as to create a wide range of unique looks for each of the fighters. With this being the case, it will be interesting to see if fans are able to deck Sonya Blade out in an outfit befitting a UFC fighter, as it has been confirmed that Ronda Rousey will be voicing the long-running Mortal Kombat character in the upcoming sequel.

Mortal Kombat 11 is currently scheduled to release on April 23, 2019 for PC, PlayStation 4, Switch, and Xbox One.
