Recently, an audio leak for Mortal Kombat 11 seemingly confirm the eventual addition of Fujin, the God of Wind, who first officially debuted back on Mortal Kombat 4. This could be big news for fans of the franchise, as not only does the audio leak suggest that Fujin will be added, but a leak that has been proven accurate thus far includes him, likely also confirming other Kombat Pack 2 characters. Still, because of Fujin's spotty appearances in the franchise, many may be asking themselves: who is Fujin?

Fujin first actually appeared in Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero as an NPC boss, but he's not mentioned by name until MK4. That entry was the first time that he became playable and named Fujin, God of Wind. His is seemingly based off of the Japanese Shinto god of the same name, and appears as a white haired, ageless man. As many would expect, he has traditionally had a solid variety of wind-based attack,s and because of their similarities in style, background, and appearance, it's clear that Fujin and Raiden share a lot in common. It's said that Fujin was designed to be the brother of Raiden, but since that has never actually been addressed in-game, it's unsure if that's still the case come Mortal Kombat 11.

Like Raiden with lightning, Fujin has complete control of wind. He has shown the ability to levitate, create miniature tornados, transform into a tornado, and use wind to levitate and slam opponents. Supposedly, Fujin is as powerful as Raiden, and since they are both Gods, neither can die. Fujin showcased this in MK Mythologies: Sub-Zero when he created a tornado so large that he was ripped to shreds, only to return in Mortal Kombat 4.

Fujin has only been playable in Mortal Kombat 4, Mortal Kombat Gold, and Mortal Kombat Armageddon, but he has appeared in or made cameos in Mortal Kombat: Deception, Mortal Kombat: Unchained, Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe, Mortal Kombat (2011), and Mortal Kombat X. In Deception, he can be found searching for a book in Orderrealm and seen as a prisoner in the background of the Dark Prison stage. In Mortal Kombat (2011), he appears alongside Raiden during the ending of Kratos' story, and then he appears in Mortal Kombat X's story to help Raiden defend Earthrealm from Shinnok.

Interestingly enough, intro dialogues between Raiden and Cetrion indicate that Fujin had been killed by Cetrion and Frost, so the story of how he returns will be an interesting one. Though if Fujin can be survived being torn apart by a tornado, then it stands to reason that he could have survived Cetrion somehow. Assuming the leak is legitimate and he is a character in Mortal Kombat 11, it'll be interesting to see what has become of him.

That's pretty much all that is known about the God of Wind, meaning that to learn more, fans will need to wait and see how he will be represented in Mortal Kombat 11. That may be a wait, though, if the other MK11 DLC release dates are any indication.

Mortal Kombat 11 is out now for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One, with a Stadia version also in development.
