Mortal Kombat fans are only a few short weeks away from experiencing Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate Edition and along with it, a new round of characters in Kombat Pack 2. This new round of DLC features one guest character along with two franchise favorites: Rambo, Rain, and Mileena. And while these characters will likely make a great addition to the roster, it does bring into question what a possible Kombat Pack 3 could even look like.

Mileena has been a highly requested character in the fighting game's eleventh entry since before the game even released, and zealous fans of the monstrous princess would often take to Twitter and ask Ed Boon about her addition. Boon, a veteran of the industry, always seemed to have clever retorts to respond to these fans, often trolling them over Mileena in the process.

Despite Boon's trolling with Mortal Kombat 11, she will now be added in this next wave of DLC. And while this has been the news Mileena and Mortal Kombat fans have been clamoring for for over a year now, it could be quite difficult to surpass this addition in future roster updates.

MK11: DLC Characters After Mileena?

There are likely very few Mortal Kombat characters that have as loyal a fanbase as Mileena's, and even non-Mileena fans might find it difficult to find a more glaring omission than her on the original roster. By adding Mileena as part of Kombat Pack 2, NetherRealm Studios put itself in an extremely difficult scenario to "one-up" itself if future Kombat Packs are in the works.

And it seems that future Kombat Packs might be in the works if a leak is to be believed. Not long before Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate Edition and Kombat Pack 2 was announced, a leak surfaced online that seemed to indicate that several more characters like Takeda, Harley Quinn, and Smoke would be added to the roster. If this rumor is taken at face value, it seems puzzling that NetherRealm Studios would elect to include Mileena in Kombat Pack 2 and not wait until Kombat Pack 3 or possibly even Kombat Pack 4 to bring her into the fight. This would likely generate more buzz around the game and could be a great way to tie off the Mortal Kombat 11 saga.

However, this could really be it for Mortal Kombat 11. With the additions of Rambo, Rain, and Mileena, that brings Mortal Kombat 11's roster to a sizable 37 combatants, which is four more than made up the final roster in Mortal Kombat XL. Perhaps there are no more Kombat Packs in the works, and this gives NetherRealm Studios the opportunity to wrap things up for Mortal Kombat 11 by providing the most requested character, and moving on to its next project. And while this may be disappointing for Mortal Kombat fans whose favorite character has yet to make an appearance in the game, at least it seems NetherRealm Studios has done its due diligence in listening to fans and doing what it can to accommodate as many players' requests as possible.

Mortal Kombat 11 is available now on PC, PS4, Stadia, Switch, and Xbox One, with versions for PS5 and Xbox Series X currently in development.
