Following the reveal event and first Kombat Kast for Mortal Kombat 11, many players have continued to wonder which characters would ultimately make the final cut and occupy one of the limited base roster spots at launch. This past week, players discovered a Steam database update that included clues to potential playable characters that have yet to be announced like Erron Black, Jade, and Kotal Kahn. Developers at NetherRealm Studios have remained silent on the potential leak until yesterday when Ed Boon provided an update.

Taking to Twitter, series co-creator and creative director at NetherRealm Studios, Ed Boon, provided a response to the recent Mortal Kombat 11 leaks. The post itself is very tongue in cheek with Boon asking Sonya Blade for her thoughts on the recent leaks with a short gif of the character's new Fatal Blow move. Knowing his typical nature on social media, which includes plenty of trolling and cryptic messages, players shouldn't have expected any sort of straight denial or confirmation from Boon.

As Boon is known to do, his post has sparked a division amongst the fanbase as to what it actually means. One side believes the gif confirms the leaked roster details, while the other firmly believes that Boon is again trolling fans and the leak is somehow fake. Either way, Boon continued to poke the community by posting one more Tweet that playfully confirms the background Mortal Kombat X NPC, Blanche. As players may remember, Blanche was a character on the Outworld Marketplace map that players could throw at their opponent or also use to trigger a brutality.

For now, players will have to continue to wait for Mortal Kombat 11 character news, with the studio teasing a new reveal this week for a returning female character. The community seems pretty set on that reveal to be Kitana, a veteran character that was first introduced all the way back in Mortal Kombat 2. While Kitana was seen briefly in the reveal trailer and has been seen in one of the game's menus, she's currently not listed as part of the recent Steam achievement leak. It's possible that either the leaked achievements were not the complete set, that Kitana isn't playable similar to how Rain and Smoke were in Mortal Kombat X, is a secret unlockable character or NetherRealm Studios simply hasn't revealed the full roster size in the recently shown off game builds.

Mortal Kombat 11 releases April 23, 2019 for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
