Nighwolf has finally arrived in Mortal Kombat 11 for Kombat Pass owners. Now that fans have gotten their hands on the new character, they have begun working out the best combos and strategies for high-level play.

Nightwolf features a combination of ranged attacks, mid-range attacks, and forward charges that make him effective at mid to long range. Patient Mortal Kombat 11 players can use use his moveset to manage the middle-space and lure their opponents into traps. Nightwolf’s forward lunges can put pressure on opponents from a distance, and force them to make decisions that will put them right into Nightwolf’s grasp.

A video uploaded by YouTuber Gleez goes into detail about some high-level strategies for players who want to hit the ground running with Nightwolf. In the video, Gleez looks at the character’s frame-count breakdown and uses it to chain moves and combos together in the most effective way. They also look at which of Nightwolf’s moves extend to the very end of his range.

One interesting tidbit about Nightwolf is his ability to quickly charge forward. This means that players can keep some distance and then move in with a flash to strike at just the right time. This means that if one of Nightwolf’s moves sends the opponent across the screen, Nightwolf can quickly zip forward without breaking the combo.

Nightwolf also features a buff which increases the damage on his bow and arrow. This gives him the opportunity to gain an advantage in situations when players end up on opposite ends of the stage lobbing projectiles at one another. Gleez shows how players can end a Nightwolf combo by knocking a character across the stage, and then immediately activating the buff in order to get a few projectile shots in.

From the looks of it, Nightwolf already has quite a few effective strategies. The video shows off a bunch of different combos that allow Nightwolf to knock and enemy around and then get back in the game. By the end of this brief tutorial, players should have the tools to jump right in with the character.

It’s also worth remembering that to truly get into the zone with Nightwolf, players should grab some Oakleys and put on some Stone Temple Pilots.

Mortal Kombat 11 is out now on Playstation 4, PC, Switch, and Xbox One.
