A Kombat Pack notification that popped up for some Mortal Kombat 11 players revealed that the game should have included Ash Williams from the Evil Dead series.

Rumors that Ash Williams would appear in Mortal Kombat 11 began to surface all of the way back in June when NetherRealm teased the character in a trailer. This got fans excited for official word on when they would get to play as the chainsaw-wielding horror star.

However, when the entirety of Mortal Kombat 11's DLC roster got revealed, it didn't include Ash. Instead, the announcement replaced Ash with two different guest fighters: the Terminator T-800 and Batman's nemesis The Joker, who features a character design that left fans displeased. Folks began to wonder if they misread the Ash teases or if the character got removed at the last minute.

Now, due to a strange Kombat Pack notification that appeared in some versions of Mortal Kombat 11, it seem the game should have had Ash Williams in it all along. The pop-op features a photo of Shang Tsun and it says "Shang Tsung, Nightwolf, Terminator, Ash Williams, Sindel, and Spawn will join the fight." This pop-up seems to indicate that Ash should have made the cut in place of The Joker.

Now, fans have started to wonder what happened. Back in June when the trailer used chainsaw sounds to seemingly tease the upcoming inclusion of Ash, Bruce Campbell (the actor who plays Ash) tweeted about the trailer. At the time, this all-but confirmed that the character would eventually show up in the game despite the fact that Campbell had previously denied that Ash would show in MK11.

This whole ordeal has been kind of a roller coaster for fans of Mortal Kombat and Evil Dead. No one has said anything directly or officially about the character appearing in the game and yet it seems nearly impossible at this point for these teases and leaks to carry no weight. Fans have started to wonder if something happened with the character's inclusion in the game that made them remove him at the last minute, but NetherRealm has not commented.

Some have pointed out that a second Kombat Pack will launch once all of the fighters from the first pack have released. It seems possible at this point, with all of the clues, that the character might show up in Kombat Pack 2 instead. If that does happen, players will have to wait a while to find out. The final character for Kombat Pack 1 doesn't drop until March of 2020 and players shouldn't expect to hear anything more until after that.

Mortal Kombat 11 is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, Switch, and Xbox One.
