The next chapter in the bloody Mortal Kombat 11 saga is now available. Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath continues the game's story campaign and adds even more characters to the already impressive roster. This means more stages and finishing moves, as well as the return of an older feature that allows players to kill opponents with kindness.

The new Mortal Kombat 11 expansion is available now digitally for $39.99 and can be combined with the Kombat Pack Bundle for $49.99, which includes six downloadable characters, like the Terminator T-800, plus 25 additional character skins. The Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath Kollection, a physical version that packages together everything the game has to offer, releases on June 15.

The expansion adds an all-new story campaign that picks up the narrative where things left off, seeing Liu Kang and Raiden reluctantly joining forces with unlikely allies to finish the time-bending saga. Among these allies are three new playable characters: Fujin, the God of Wind; Sheeva, the prominent female four-armed Shokan from the series; and RoboCop, the cybernetic police officer from the classic films. As expected, Robocop's moves are brutal and violent, just like they are in the movies, making him a perfect addition to the roster. He also has the likeness and voice of the franchise's original actor, Peter Wallace, making the character's return feel more authentic.

All Mortal Kombat 11 owners can download a free content update right now that includes the new stages, Stage Fatalitites, and access to Friendships, a feature that has been missing from the series for a very long time. Friendships are for players who want to take a softer, less violent approach instead of brutally dispatching an enemy with a finishing move. They can now disco dance with Liu Kang, hug a giant teddy bear with Scorpian, or initiate any of the other adorable and often hilarious moves each character can perform. A Friendships trailer was recently released that showcases just a fraction of the many cute things players can do to their opponents.

The Mortal Kombat series has tapped lots of other franchises for characters to add to the game. Ash Williams, from the Evil Dead series, has been rumored to be an upcoming member of the roster for a while. A datamine of the beta version of the game kicked it all off, but things like the recently leaked email from WB Games have been adding fuel to the fire. Ash didn't make it into the expansion, but if the rumors are true, he'll join in future DLC.

Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath is out now for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
