Yesterday, Mortal Kombat 11 developer NetherRealm Studios teased the world with today's announcement of a story expansion. With many guessing who would serve as Shang Tsung's allies in the trailer, it seems safe to say expectations were high, and expectations were exceeded.

Mortal Kombat 11 has a reputation for going big with each of its DLC characters, perfectly culminating in the best for last in Spawn. Following him up with any DLC character was going to be a trying task, but NetherRealm figured it out with the Aftermath Expansion.

The trailer showing off everything can be seen below, but the release date is arguably one of the most eye-catching. Mortal Kombat 11's Aftermath Expansion drops on May 26, 2020, just 20 days from now. It's hard to say how long NRS has had this up its sleeve, but there are a few hints that it's been in the works for a while.

Alongside a new story expansion which sees Fire God Liu Kang and Raiden team up with unlikely allies to steal Kronika's crown and set history right, Mortal Kombat 11's aftermath expansion adds not one, not two, but three DLC characters with it that day. Fujin, Sheeva, and RoboCop are all coming to the game on May 26, with each of these rumored for quite some time. Fujin and Sheeva have been talked about practically since launch, and the long delay between DLC characters suggests that it helped make this all possible. After all, that appears to be 3 DLC characters all in one day.

In addition to everything discussed above, classic stages, Klassic Dead Pool and Soul Chamber arenas, Stage Fatalities, friendships, and more. Those who have Mortal Kombat 11 and KP1 can get it for $39.99, those who have MK11 but not KP1 can get it for $49.99, and those who have neither can get the full Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath Kollection for $59.99.

Keep an eye out for more information about the Aftermath Kollection between now and May 26. That's a short period, but chances are, NRS may just show some extra footage for the new MK11 DLC characters.

Mortal Kombat 11 is out now for PC, PS4, Stadia, Switch, and Xbox One.
