Morrowind Rebirth, a mod that looks to restore The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind and update the game to look somewhat similar to modern titles, has just released version 6.0, bringing a whole host of new content and fixes. The impressive Morrowind Rebirth mod has been in the works for 11 years now and was started by solo modder Johan Rosen. It acts as a huge overhaul to Morrowind, fixing problems within the game, including major bugs, as well as adding enough content to fill multiple expansions.

The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind recently celebrated its 20th anniversary, with the iconic RPG having launched back in 2002. With the original release being so long ago, even fans of Morrowind have admitted that the game doesn't exactly hold up because its graphics now seem largely outdated and some of its gameplay systems may feel strange to someone more used to modern RPGs. However, Morrowind Rebirth looks to fix those issues, as shown in its recently revealed version 6.0.

Version 6.0 of the Morrowind Rebirth mod comes with a three-minute release trailer, showing off how the overhaul has changed the original game. Opening with some establishing shots of the home of the Dark Elves, it's clear to see an improvement over the graphics of the original Morrowind. But fans hoping to see a completely new look might want to rein in those expectations, as Morrowind Rebirth still holds onto the now classic look of the 2002 game.

In terms of the specific changes coming in version 6.0 of Morrowind Rebirth, there are various landscape alterations and big improvements to the Deadlands to make them more ominous. Considering the Deadlands are the home of the Elder Scrolls Daedric Prince Mehrunes Dagon, it does make sense that a player wouldn't feel exactly at home there. Moreover, there are also some expanded interiors, allowing for greater exploration in Morrowind Rebirth, and dozens of improvements to textures, weapons, and armor.

There are a bunch of other changes coming in Morrowind Rebirth's latest update, which can be downloaded either from Mod DB or the Nexus Mods page. If a Morrowind fan has already downloaded one of the other overhauls to the game, it is important to note that Morrowind Rebirth may clash with that mod. For anyone looking to travel to Morrowind who does not have access to the 2002 classic, there are also plenty of Skyrim mods that incorporate lots of Morrowind content.

The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind is available for PC and on the original Xbox.
