The one-year anniversary of Borderlands 2’s release may be just a short month away, but many fans of the shooter/action RPG have yet to put down their legendary rocket launchers or sniper rifles. So far, Gearbox’s barrage of DLC packs for the game have raised the level cap to 61 and kept fans busy for the last 11 months. Two DLC packs coming this fall will push the level cap and mission count even higher.

Borderlands 2 (check out our review here) enthusiasts are probably aware that Tiny Tina’s Assault on Dragon Keep was the final DLC pack that would be covered under the game’s Season Pass. Ultimate Vault Hunter Upgrade Pack 2 is the first of this fall’s two new content packs and will cost interested parties $5.00.

Hunter Upgrade Pack 2 will raise the level cap up to 72. That brings the limit 22 levels higher than it was at the game’s initial release. In addition, the DLC includes the Digistruct Peak Challenge. The challenge consists of a new map and the ability to “over level your game for extra challenges.” Oh, and plenty of loot.

The second DLC pack coming this fall brings back a character that fans haven’t seen since the original Borderlands and its The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned add-on. The Headhunter Pack: T.K. Baha’s Bloody Harvest includes a new mission and a themed boss fight against a giant pumpkin. The new enemy is aptly dubbed Jacques O’Lantern. New character customizations will be unlocked after the Halloween-inspired boss is defeated. No price was announced for the Bloody Harvest DLC.

T.K. Baha’s Bloody Harvest is the first in a series of Headhunter Packs being introduced to Borderlands 2. Each pack will offer new missions and unique themed boss fights. No specific details about the follow-up Headhunter Packs have been announced yet.

Borderlands 2 Completion Time

Gearbox also explained that extra ammo capacity, bank slots, a backpack, and additional customizations will all be arriving later this year in a free Borderlands 2 update. More character heads and skins can also be expected.

If you can’t get enough Gearbox news, the company will be be hosting a Community Day on September 14. Fans worldwide can live stream the events from the official site.

Borderlands 2 and its growing list of DLC packs are available on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC, and OS X.
