Since the release of Monster Hunter World, Capcom has continually brought crossover events to its acclaimed RPG, giving players access to new gear from some of their favorite franchises. Yet another of these crossover events has recently launched, and fans that are hunting on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One can now go into battle as The Witcher's Geralt of Rivia.

A new quest, titled "Contract: Trouble in the Ancient Forest," is currently available in Monster Hunter World, and it allows players to take control of Geralt as they hunt down a Leshen. This wood-dwelling creature was featured in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, and slaying it will make a number of new items available for crafting.

This new gear includes the Geralt α full armor set, which transforms player characters into the White Wolf himself, and a Silver Sword that will be familiar to fans of The Witcher series. Furthermore, Palicos can also get in on the act with the now craftable Cursed Staff α as well as the Nekkar α full armor set.

That is not where the crossover event ends though, as another quest, "Contract: Woodland Spirit," is set to go live on February 15. This contract will be for players with a Hunter Rank of 50 of higher, and it will allow them to coordinate multiplayer assaults on the Leshen. Completing the quest will unlock the craftable Ciri α full armor set, which gives equipped characters Ciri's appearance, along with the Zireal dual blades.

The Witcher's invasion of Monster Hunter World comes during an event that is celebrating the game's first anniversary, something that has brought a myriad of new and returning quests to the game. While many players may be focused on Geralt's arrival, Capcom has also continued the anniversary festivities with another quest. Specifically, players can now hunt a tempered version of the title's "least hunted monster," Lavasioth.

With The Witcher crossover,  Capcom continues to show its commitment to post-launch support of Monster Hunter World. While frequent free updates may be coming to an end, fans certainly have some new content to look forward to, as the game's first major expansion is set to release later this year.

Monster Hunter World is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
