Monster Hunter World's co-op multiplayer is considered a fun way to take on some of the game's toughest enemies with friends and strangers. But players of the hit RPG say that the game's online multiplayer is plagued by trolls who just want to spoil the fun for everyone else.

This trolling in Monster Hunter World occurs at the end of a monster battle when players must go and collect their loot from the monster's corpse through a process known as carving. While it is usually a straightforward process, players are reporting that their supposed teammates sometimes use stuns and attacks in order to purposefully prevent them from carving the monster and collecting their loot.

Monster Hunter World players have been detailing their encounters with trolls on social media. One reddit user said that in one experience, "as soon as Kirin would be low health [the troll player] would hug him so he could start carving immediately after a kill, and once he was done he would attack/interupt the remaining players to keep them from getting their carves in."

Frustrated fans have come up with solutions including putting their consoles to sleep and then switching them back on in order to kick other players from the session, thus allowing players them to go back, carve the monsters and collect the loot uninterrupted. Using the Rocksteady Mantle (which prevents players from flinching) or being the owner and kicking out other players have also been put forward as solutions.

These workarounds require significant effort, though and many are looking for Capcom to introduce automatic loot collection or to prevent stuns and other attacks from affecting other players altogether. In a statement, Capcom said “The team is actively monitoring player feedback. This is definitely one of the concerns they have seen raised and they’re currently looking into it," although the company did not elaborate on what a solution might look like or when it would become available.

Monster Hunter World players are known for their inventive workarounds and ways to get the most out of the game, whether that be ways to increase damage against sleeping monsters or just using equipable items to make farming easier. But many players argue that this is one thing that they shouldn't have to resolve themselves and that Capcom should be the one to step in and fix this. Hopefully, a solution to the game's trolling problem will be introduced sooner rather than later.

Monster Hunter World is out now for PS4 and Xbox One. The PC version releases this fall.
