The highly anticipated release of Monster Hunter World is quickly approaching, but fans expecting to play on PC rather than console may be waiting for some time yet. This morning Monster Hunter World producer Ryozo Tsujimoto announced that the PC version of the action game is now tentatively scheduled to release this autumn. The PC version of Monster Hunter World had no prior confirmed release window.

While the PC version of Monster Hunter World has been confirmed to be a delayed release for some time now, few expected such a long delay. With the console version of the game launching January 26, the PC launch could come as late as eleven months later. And that's barring any further delays.

PC game players will hopefully recognize the frustration of such a lengthy delay as a necessary test of patience. The time between releases shows Capcom's willingness to give the PC port as much development time as is necessary. Of course, it also means that fans will have higher expectations of the port. It's a good situation to be in, so long as Monster Hunter World turns out great.

Capcom's Ryozo Tsujimoto also took the opportunity to confirm a detail that Monster Hunter fans were likely already expecting: Monster Hunter World will feature free post-launch DLC, including new monsters. Past modern Monster Hunter titles are well known for adding new monsters, items, and events that keep players hunting well after launch. Monster Hunter World won't diverge from its predecessors in that regard.

With less than a month left until Monster Hunter World launches, there's not much else left for Capcom to detail. All that's left is to release some exciting trailers and wait for reviews. All the while game players on PC will be weighing the option of buying the game for console versus waiting.

Monster Hunter World releases on January 26 for the PS4 and Xbox One. The PC launch will follow in autumn later this year.
