One of the Monster Hunter franchise's favorite monsters will be returning in Monster Hunter World: Iceborne. The expansion's latest trailer confirmed the return of Zinogre, the quadrupedal wolf wyvern with control over thunder. Zinogre debuted in Monster Hunter Portable 3rd for PSP and PS3 and last appeared in 2017's Monster Hunter XX. With Iceborne launching in less than a week, players won't have long to wait.

Zinogre has traditionally been a 5-star threat, making them a fitting addition for Monster Hunter World: Iceborne. And players can see for themselves why in the latest trailer for the upcoming expansion. The Zinogre has a range of both physical and electrically charged abilities. Part of this is tied to Zinogre gathering Thunderbugs (named Fulgurbugs in Iceborne) in its vicinity, which can lead to it growing "Charged" and its claws glowing blue. Players can knock a Zinogre out of its charge by dealing damage to it.

The Zinogre reveal also details some of the monster's physiology. Its yellow-brown carapace covering its body is described as its "Zinogre Shocker," its fur as "Zinogre Shockfur" which lines its legs, chest, and neck and supposedly amplifies its electrical powers. It also has a long tail, which hunters are likely already eyeing for materials. Knowledge of Zinogre's anatomy will play a key role in survival, given the monster's aggressive nature.

It wouldn't be a monster in a Monter Hunter game if hunting it didn't provide materials for new armor. The Zinogre reveal confirms that a full set of armor and weapons can be crafted from material harvested from the monster. The theme for the equipment will be familiar to players of past Monster Hunter games. It features Zinogre's blue carapace and white fur. Naturally, the fur will flow with Zinogre's electrical charge, lending its strength to the player in a unique way.

Zinogre joins a growing list of monsters added as part of Monster Hunter World's Iceborne expansion. That list includes Tigrex, Cortos, Popo, Anteka, Bariooth, Banbaro, Beotodus, Nargacuga, Velkhana, as well as Shrieking Legiana. And there's almost certainly more monsters left to be unveiled. Considering the breadth of content already available in Monster Hunter World, Iceborne's a fitting successor.

Monster Hunter World: Iceborne releases on September 6 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
