Zinogre... the name strikes fear into even the bravest hunters. In Monster Hunter World: Iceborne, the creature makes a triumphant return from its previous appearances in the franchise. The Thunder-element monster most notably hits like a truck with its razor sharp claws, its long, spiky tail, and its charge tackles, so knowing how to prepare for the fight will give players all the edge they'll need to reign victorious.

But where is the Zinogre in Monster Hunter World: Iceborne? As is usually the case with the best monsters in the game, players will need to understand where to find the creature, and how to survive its deadly attacks if they wish to triumph.

Guiding Lands

Before Monster Hunter World: Iceborne players can even hope to encounter the Zinogre, they first must beat the final boss of the Iceborne DLC. The reason this step is crucial is because finishing the Iceborne DLC will unlock the Guiding Lands, which is where the Zinogre will ultimately appear, but not before players have completed a few more steps of their journey.

Once players have finished the Iceborne DLC, they can fast travel to the Guiding Lands. Upon arrival and on the top right of the screen, there should be an "Analysis Progress" bar, which should state "Fanged Wyvern". To fill the Analysis Progress bar, players will need to collect progress points. This can be done by breaking part of the correct type monster (multiple points), breaking part of the wrong type monster (one point), capturing/slaying the correct type monster (one point), and/or killing a tempered monster, which will fill an entire bar.

In the case of this event, players can kill or break just about any type of Fanged Wyvern. For those interested in completing the event as quickly as possible, they should go for the easier, smaller wyverns.

Once the bar is full, Monster Hunter World: Iceborne players should head back to camp.

Lure Out The Monster

Once Monster Hunter World: Iceborne players have arrived back at camp with their full Analysis Progress bar, they'll want to speak with the handler to report their findings. After sorting through the multiple screens, players will be given the choice to "Lure Out Monster", which they should select. The Zinogre can appear in both the Ancient Forest and the Coral Highlands. The choice is really up to players, depending on their preference.

The Zinogre

Finally, the moment Monster Hunter World: Iceborne players have been waiting for: the battle with the Zinogre. To prepare for this fight, all hunters and huntresses should take the following information into consideration. The Zinogre is a Thunder-type monster, and collects its electric power from Thunderbugs, which will in turn transform the monster into a super-charged Zinogre.

Considering the shocking potency of this monster, Monster Hunter World: Iceborne players should arrive to the fight with an ample supply of Thunder-resistant gear, and/or Nulberries. As each of the Zinogre's attacks are Thunder-based, equipping items like the Thunderproof Mantle or Thunder Resistant armor will really help nullify some of the damage from when the Zinogre inevitably supercharges itself. Nulberries are also a tremendous help, as they can be used to neutralize Thunderblight.

There are also skills that Monster Hunter World: Iceborne players should take into consideration. These skills include Thunder Resistance, which reduces Thunder-based damage taken, Stun Resistance, which reduces the duration of stuns, and Earplugs, which negates the stunning effects of the Zinogre's roars.

Weaknesses

Luckily, the Zinogre has a considerable weakness to the Ice element. Monster Hunter World: Iceborne players should be sure to equip any ice-type weapons available to them in their arsenal, and to pair these weapons with the Ice Attack skill. Doubling down like this will greatly maximize the Zinogre's weakness.

In terms of which part of the Zinogre Monster Hunter World: Iceborne players should attack, there are three very vulnerable points on the monster. The first are its forelimbs, or arms. If players lack any real openings of attack, breaking the forelimbs can topple the Zinogre, and thereby afford Monster Hunter World: Iceborne players with a few seconds to land some strong physical attacks.

The second vulnerable point is the Zinogre's head. Throughout the fight, the Zinogre will stop and charge up, and hitting the creature's head hard enough can stall this effect. This can be a bit tricky, however, as Monster Hunter World: Iceborne players will need to do a considerable amount of damage in order to stall the monster.

The last vulnerable point on the creature is its tail. The Zinogre will utilize its tail throughout the fight as a weapon, which has considerable range that will work against Monster Hunter World: Iceborne players. Fortunately, the tail can be cut off, which will in turn make the Zinogre's hit box considerably smaller, and will reduce incoming damage.

Monster Hunter World: Iceborne is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
