Monster Hunter World: Iceborne is set to be the game's biggest expansion yet, adding a brand new area, new story quests, and of course, a new set of monsters. So far, there have been four new monsters confirmed for Iceborne, but hardcore Monster Hunter fans have noted that the end of the Iceborne expansion's trailer teases a fifth monster will be coming to the game in the form of Tigrex.

Tigrex is a flying wyvern monster that first appeared in Monster Hunter Freedom 2. The beast is notable for its blue and yellow markings, as well as its distinctive roar. Tigrex has remained a popular Monster Hunter monster, and so it's no surprise that fans seem excited to see Tigrex in Monster Hunter World.

At the 3:11 mark in the Monster Hunter World: Iceborne announcement trailer, the game's September 6, 2019 release date appears on the screen. The date lingers for a second, and then fans can hear Tigrex's roar. Of course, this isn't an outright admission by Capcom that Tigrex is coming to Monster Hunter World in the Iceborne expansion, but it's hard to think of anything else it could signify. The roar comes at about the 3:11 mark in the trailer.

New monsters like Tigrex are certainly the biggest draw when it comes to the Monster Hunter World: Iceborne expansion, but as previously stated, the expansion has even more to offer fans. It will allow Monster Hunter World players to explore a new region called Hoarfrost Reach, and that area combined with the rest of the content in the Iceborne expansion is said to rival the size of the Monster Hunter World base game.

Whether or not Tigrex will be found in Hoarfrost Reach remains to be seen. While new monsters like Banbaro and Beotodus will be exclusive to Hoarfrost Reach, others will be found in areas from the base game. For example, upon downloading the Iceborne expansion, mysterious monster tracks will start appearing in Monster Hunter World, leading players to Nargacuga, and possibly Tigrex as well.

Monster Hunter World fans excited to see Tigrex in action may not have much longer to wait. An official announcement from Capcom could very well come at E3 2019 in June, as Capcom has confirmed that it is bringing Monster Hunter World and its Iceborne expansion to the show. So those hoping to see Tigrex should definitely tune in.

Monster Hunter World is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. The Iceborne expansion launches on September 6, 2019 for PS4 and Xbox One, with a PC release to follow in 2020.
