Monster Hunter World's Iceborne expansion released in September to widespread critical acclaim. The massive expansion near doubled the content of the base Monster Hunter World's campaign, both expanding and building upon what could be considered the best title in the franchise yet. Unfortunately, however, Iceborne received a stunted release like Monster Hunter World at launch. Console versions of the game came first. But PC hunters won't have to wait much longer, as Capcom's now announced Monster Hunter World's Iceborne expansion release date.

In an impressive announcement trailer, Capcom confirmed that Monster Hunter World Iceborne will launch on PC on January 9, 2020. That's almost 2 years after the original game launched, or a year and a half after it first came to PC. The new trailer teases some of the expected features planned for PC, including support for 4K resolution and uncapped framerates. High-resolution textures will naturally be supported, as will DirectX 12. While there are no overt PC-only improvements, Monster Hunter World Iceborne will still scale onto the PC platform nicely.

In addition to Monster Hunter World Iceborne PC's release date, Capcom also revealed its planned pre-order bonuses for early adopters. Those who pre-order the Iceborne expansion will receive an exclusive set in the Yukumo Series layered armor. Note that this is the same pre-order bonus offered to buyers on consoles. It's strictly visual and doesn't offer any in-game bonuses or come with any exclusive weapons.

Monster Hunter World Iceborne will also be available via both a standard edition and a Deluxe Edition, for $39.99 and $49.99 respectively. The Deluxe Edition of Iceborne includes a range of cosmetic DLC including the Silver Knight layered armor set. Buyers will also receive 3 gestures, 2 sticker sets, 1 face paint, 1 hairstyle, and 1 decor set for room customization. Both editions require players to already own the base Monster Hunter World game.

Pre-order bonuses and Deluxe Editions aside, PC Monster Hunter World players are certain to be anxious to get started playing the Iceborne expansion. It took 7 months for the base game to come to PC. Capcom's been able to shorten that to less than 4 months for Iceborne, which while an improvement is still annoying. That said, at least PC fans now have a date to look forward to. Soon PC Monster Hunters will be battling Barioth, Beotodus, and Brachydios with their console fellows. Just a few more months left to wait.

Monster Hunter World Iceborne is available now on PS4 and Xbox One. The Iceborne expansion launches on PC starting January 9, 2020.
