It has been a long time since Capcom gave any updates about its previous title Monster Hunter World Iceborne. The company released two titles this year alone, Monster Hunter Rise and Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin, so it is understandable that the developer focus would be on these popular Nintendo Switch titles. Now, Capcom has announced that several of Iceborne event quests will be removed from the game, specifically the collaborations between the Monster Hunter movie and the Assassin's Creed series.

Most Monster Hunter players would likely agree that most of the endgame content in the series revolves around gearing up, and facing powered-up versions of monsters found in the game. But endgame also includes Capcom releasing DLC and collaboration quests with other popular titles. This can be seen in the new events released for Monster Hunter Rise, as well as the continuous addition of new monsties in Wings of Ruin. This is what also drew many players to keep playing Iceborne, so it is likely sad for fans to see some of them being permanently removed from the title.

The official Monster Hunter Twitter account recently posted details to announce the removal of several event quests in Monster Hunter World: Iceborne. According to the posts, the Monster Hunter movie and Assassin's Creed event quests will no longer be available in-game starting December 3, 2021, at 00:00 UTC. This means that players who have not completed these quests before will not be able to access them. Though players who already have the Mila Jovovich layered armor and the Assassin's Creed Bayek Layered Armor will still be able to use them, players who were not able to finish the event quests after their removal will no longer be able to acquire them.

Given that there are mixed reviews about the Monster Hunter movie, players are likely not that broken up about the event quest being removed. However, there are a lot of Assassin's Creed fans out there who are also Iceborne players, so this may make them feel sad to see the quest go. However, there are still a lot of other event quests in Iceborne that they can go back to, even though Capcom has newer titles to offer on the Switch.

With the announcement of MH Rise being added to PC this 2022, there may be an even bigger dip to the already lowering player count of Monster Hunter World: Iceborne. However, many fans will likely remember the game fondly, given that it may have been their first introduction to the Monster Hunter series.

Monster Hunter World: Iceborne is available for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
