When Monster Hunter World: Iceborne finally released on PC January 9, it was lacking some content already made available on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions through updates since the expansion launched last September. This week, Capcom released a roadmap for all the content players on either side of the aisle can expect to see until the two versions sync up in April, and teased the return of a "fan-favorite" monster soon after.
For console players, the complete Monster Hunter World: Iceborne roadmap that was published on Twitter is a little underwhelming, as Capcom focuses on catching up the PC version. Consoles will simply see some Special Event Quests in February and two new variant monsters in March.
However, PC players can expect to be potentially overwhelmed as February brings in the Rajang update and the Resident Evil collaboration event, followed by the release of Stygian Zinogre and Safi'jiiva in March.
Each of these Title Updates will also bring in the Volcanic and Tundra Regions of the Guiding Lands.
In April, the PC version will receive the variant monsters that consoles are getting in March, and from then on updates will be synchronized for everyone. The first new thing all players can expect is new Arch-Tempered and Master Rank versions of monsters, followed by a returning "fan-favorite" monster in May. Capcom has not dropped any hints as to what this returning monster will be, but fans have had no qualms leaving their guesses in the comments below the roadmap Tweet.
Monster Hunter World has been a huge success for Capcom, and the ongoing expansion is no exception. Since September, Iceborne alone has sold over four million units. Clearly players are enjoying having more opportunities to take down an increasing number of enormous creatures in the latest version of the developer's long-running action RPG.
The road to success has not been perfect, however. A bug in the PC version of Iceborne has reportedly wiped people's save data, and the Monster Hunter Twitter account has been actively discussing work being done to patch such issues.
Even so, the fanbase is chomping at the bit for more content — as evident by the number of posts wondering which fan-favorite monster will be arriving in May. Luckily it seems Capcom is more than prepared to give the people what they want as soon as all versions of the game are on an equal playing field.
