About a couple of months ago, Monster Hunter World was officially revealed to be Capcom's best-selling title ever, with the role-playing game beating out the previous record holder of the third-person shooter Resident Evil 5. Now, the publisher and developer has disclosed its most up-to-date financial results, which currently lists MHW's shipments as 7.9 million units as of March 31. Per Capcom, sales of the RPG have helped to bring the company its "highest level of profitability" within its entire history.

According to the latest fiscal report from Capcom, Monster Hunter World “significantly contributed” to the publisher and developer's financial performance, which managed to bring about international recognition that led to an invigoration of its global operations. As listed under the "Digital Contents" subheader of the report, MHW's digital business was a major driving force that assisted in "the increase in sales and contributed greatly to improved profit" for the company.

While Capcom's current pecuniary success can mainly be attributed to the sales and acclaim attached to Monster Hunter World, the company was also buoyed by a bevy of other rock solid titles as well, with Resident Evil 7 having performed in a particularly strong manner by having now moved 5.1 million units. What's more is that the Nintendo Switch games such as Monster Hunter XX (Double Cross) Nintendo Switch Ver. and Ultra Street Fighter 2: The Final Challengers were able to reach "hit status as well".

With Monster Hunter World having facilitated Capcom's current position as a fiscally sound firm – profits were down not too long ago – the company is undoubtedly studying exactly how the RPG created these positive waves in the first place in order to replicate such success again with another title in the future. At any rate, it will be interesting to see how much more profitable the game becomes later this year once Capcom finally releases its PC version in the fall.

Monster Hunter World is available now for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, with a PC release window slated for sometime in autumn 2018.
