There's no doubt that Monster Hunter World's launch weekend has been an exciting time for many gamers, with plenty of players flocking to the title to explore exotic realms and hunt wild beasts. To reflect the success of the title's release, Capcom recently announced that within the three days of availability to the public, the action role-playing game has already shipped upwards of 5 million copies around the globe.

According to Capcom, this figure for Monster Hunter World sets a series record for having the most units shipped in the first three days, and it includes physical, as well as digital download sales. Of course, it must be mentioned for those who may be unaware that "shipped" is somewhat different to "sold" when it comes to physical copies, as it means the units sent to retailers that have not been paid for by customers.

While this feat is certainly significant in the eyes of Capcom, Monster Hunter World's shipped numbers would have surely been much bigger if the action-RPG wasn't only available for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One at launch. As it so happens, the title's PC version has been delayed until sometime in fall 2018 in order to give developers the chance to refine it as much as possible for the platform.

For those who are still on the fence when it comes to picking up a copy of Monster Hunter World, it's worth noting that the action-RPG has been given plenty of gushingly positive reviews, which ought to goad many into buying the game. Of course, there are surely some who will still remain cautious and wait to buy MHW until the post-launch hype has died down some. Generally speaking, it's a good practice to engage in, as it often helps one gauge whether or not the overall reception to a game's quality is just being colored by the sheer excitement relating to the fact that it's finally out.

Monster Hunter World is available now for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and will launch at sometime in autumn 2018 for PC.
