Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin, which was recently announced to be releasing in July 2021, will come with the option of purchasing a Deluxe Edition bundled with a number of in-game bonuses. In addition, the release of the game will also see the release of three new Amiibo figures produced by Nintendo.

Monster Hunter Stories 2 is a spin-off title of the main Monster Hunter series produced by Capcom. Unlike the action-based main series titles, Monster Hunter Stories utilizes more traditional role-playing game mechanics and showcases groups of characters living in harmony with and even riding certain monster species, rather than actively hunting them. Wings of Ruin is a sequel to the first Monster Hunter Stories title, which released for the Nintendo 3DS in 2016 in Japan and 2017 in the rest of the world.

The bonus content featured in the Deluxe Edition were shared on Twitter by frequent gaming news source Nibellion. Bonuses include a set of Razewing Layered Armor for the player, new outfits for characters Ena and Navirou, a Spiky Nergal hairstyle for the player, and a set of stickers featuring a variety of characters. Capcom clarified that the Layered Armor and character outfits changed appearance only, and did not come with any weapons or combat bonuses.

In addition, players who pre-order the game can unlock an exclusive Kamura Maiden Outfit for Ena. Like the Deluxe Edition costumes, this is only an appearance change which does not boost Ena's capabilities in combat. Further clarification from Capcom indicated that the outfit might be made available at a later date for players who did not pre-order Monster Hunter Stories 2, but did not clarify when or how it would be distributed in this case.

Finally, three previously rumored Amiibo figures will be releasing alongside the game: the friendly Ena (complete with carefully held Rathalos egg,) the feline Tsukino, and the powerful monster Razewing Ratha. Each Amiibo figure can be scanned in order to unlock a unique set of Layered Armor for the player in Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin.

Wings of Ruin is the second of two Monster Hunter titles releasing in 2021. The first, main series title Monster Hunter Rise, will release for the Nintendo Switch on March 26. It features a new setting, a mix of new and returning monsters, and an adorable rideable canine companion called a Palamute.

A film loosely inspired by Monster Hunter was also released in December 2020 for the majority of countries. The exception is Japan, which will see the film debuting on March 26, the same day as Monster Hunter Rise.

Because 2021 marks the 15th anniversary of the Monster Hunter series, it is possible that more news might be announced later in the year.

Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin will release for PC and Nintendo Switch on July 9, 2021.
