The release date of Capcom’s Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak is a little more than a month away. Recently concluding the latest Sunbreak digital event, the action-RPG title’s development team unveiled a new trailer, more information about new gameplay features, and additions to the monster lineup. Three new monsters are being added to the major expansion, and this includes the return of Seregios plus two new subspecies of the Somnacanth and Almudron.

Though the May 2022 digital event did not announce a new demo for Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak, many exciting features were still shared by the devs. This includes being able to bring notable NPCs from both Kamura Village and Elgado to complete quests with them, being able to transition between the in-game Switch Skills, and more gameplay snippets of the fight between the flagship Malzeno. Though the hunter community likely appreciated all these new details and updates, most were likely glad that Capcom revealed three new monsters for the Sunbreak expansion.

At around the one and half minute mark of the livestream, the new monsters for Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak were revealed when the new game trailer was shown. This includes Seregios, the flagship monster from the 3DS title Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate. The footage also unveiled several snippets of the fight with the returning monster, likely giving hunters who played the previous title flashbacks of their own notable face-offs with the creature. Later on, the development team got a bit more into detail about the monster, which includes its change in form when enraged.

Two new Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak subspecies were also revealed during the livestream event, the Aurora Somnacanth and the Magma Almudron. The original form of the Somnacanth features attacks which causes players to fall asleep, while Monster Hunter Rise's Almudron affects hunters with waterblight and bleed. According to the devs, Aurora Somnacanth will now have iceblight attacks, and the Magma Almudron will utilize magma to aggressively attack players trying to hunt it.

With the previous monster roster announcements of Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak, the community will be getting a total of nine new creatures to fight against. Including those from the base game, the community will have choices between more than 40 monsters to hunt. With more than a month to go until the official launch, Capcom still has a bit more time to bump the lineup more to truly make this expansion a massive one.

Monster Hunter Rise is available now for PC and Switch, and Sunbreak will release on June 30.
