Monster Hunter World introduced the monster Bazelgeuse, an invading species that comes and goes where it pleases. Now, it has even made its way into Monster Hunter Rise and its explosive variant, Seething Bazelgeuse, in the Sunbreak DLC.

However, unlocking Seething Bazelgeuse must be made clear for some players, as it is separate from the main storyline. This guide will help Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak players unlock and beat a Seething Bazelgeuse.

How To Unlock Seething Bazelgeuse

To unlock Seething Bazelgeuse, players must complete the Sunbreak DLC's main storyline and defeat the final boss. After doing so, the Master Rank cap, which was previously level 7, will now be lifted, allowing hunters to raise their level freely. Once they reach Master Rank level 10, an Urgent quest from the quest princess at the Elgado Outpost will appear, signaling the first Title Update 1 quest, Raining Fire. This will task hunters to capture or kill a Seething Bazelgeuse at the Lava Caverns.

Previously, a normal Bazelgeuse would go into its "Seething" state when it was enraged, where the scales on the body would glow and explode at any given time. However, this unique variant is always in the "Seething" state, ready to explode at any given time. Think of it like a Furious Rajang, always in the golden form with no way of escaping it except by death. Before fighting this explosive variant, players should adequately understand how to fight and defeat a Seething Bazelgeuse.

How To Defeat Seething Bazelgeuse

For starters, players should consider using ranged weapons against the beast, as close combat users will be at constant risk of being damaged by the explosive scales on its body. No matter what weapon the hunter chooses, they should try an Ice-based weapon, as the Seething Bazelgeuse is extremely weak to the Ice element. However, it has a minor weakness to the Thunder element, which can be a secondary option to use against the beast.

For the most part, the fight against Seething Bazelgeuse is more or less the same as fighting the original. The critical difference is no time delay for its explosive scales, as instead of waiting a few seconds for them to explode, they explode almost immediately. As one would expect, these explosions also deal twice as much damage as before, unlike the original counterpart.

One final difference to be aware of is the existence of the Seething Bazelgeuse's ultimate move, the Grand Dive Bomb. In its enraged state, Seething Bazelgeuse will let out a roar and scatter its explosive scales all around the arena. It will then fly into the air, roar once more, and trigger the scales to explode, then finally, diving its body into the ground below and releasing a vast explosion. The only way to avoid this attack is to perform a dolphin dive along the outside portion of the area, as being too close to the center will cause players to get caught by the dive bomb explosion. This move, in most cases, will one-shot players if they are hit by it. If players can learn to keep their distance and time their hits, they'll eventually be able to defeat the explosive invader.
