Magnamalo was the flagship monster for Monster Hunter Rise and brought new weapons and armor for players to chase. In order to craft said gear, players would need to obtain the Purple Magna Orb from Magnamalo, an exclusive rare drop from the beast.
However, with the release of Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak, obtaining the Purple Magna Orb has become far more straightforward. This guide will help Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak players earn and use this Orb to the fullest.
How To Get The Purple Magna Orb
To obtain the Purple Magna Orb, players must first understand what rank it can drop from in order to earn one. The Purple Magna Orb is a 7-Star rarity monster drop, which means it can only be dropped from 7-Star quests, and higher. Therefore, the Low-Rank 3-Star version of the Magnamalo will not reward players with this exclusive Orb.
Players can choose the High-Rank quest, Clad in Hellfire, to fight a 7-Star Magnamalo if they wish to obtain a Purple Magna Orb. However, the percentage of it dropping upon slaying or capturing the monster is very low, and it may take more than one attempt to earn one.
However, as mentioned before, with the release of Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak, new Master-Rank versions of Magnamalo have been released. Thus, obtaining a Purple Magna Orb is now much more manageable. Before taking on the new Master-Rank Magnamalo, it's essential to understand its strengths and weaknesses.
How To Fight Master-Rank Magnamalo
By now, players have already hunted at least one Magnamalo, if not more, for story progression. In Master-Rank, Magnamalo will retain most of its original moveset from the previous ranks but now has a few more tricks up its sleeve. As it becomes enraged, Magnamalo will now unleash more of its devastating AOE attacks and become hyper-aggressive. In this state, its hellfire effect becomes much more deadly against players and can deal massive damage if they can't avoid it. The recommendation would be to use Wyvern-riding with other monsters in the area to deal a large chunk of damage against Magnamalo. On top of that, it's mainly weak to the water element, with high resistance against everything else.
The best quest to fight a Master-Rank Magnamalo would be 3-Star Master-Rank Quest, Purging Hatred. In this quest, players are tasked with either hunting or capturing a Magnamalo at the Frost Islands. It should only take players a couple of successful hunts to earn a Purple Magna Orb from a Master-Rank Magnamalo, and they can then use their newly-acquired material to good use for top-tier weapons and armor pieces.
