Nintendo hosted a livestreamed Nintendo Direct presentation today to reveal upcoming titles releasing for the Nintendo Switch in the near future. PlatinumGames showed off the first gameplay reveal trailer for Bayonetta 3; Nintendo revealed that N64 games will soon be coming to the Switch Online service. Even Capcom teased a brand-new expansion for Monster Hunter Rise, the latest mainline title in the action-RPG series.

Monster Hunter Rise launched for the Switch in early 2022 to raving reviews, and Capcomn has been steadily putting out updates for the game that add new quests and things, but the new paid expansion called Sunbreak will bring even more content to hunters.

In the reveal trailer for Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak, fans didn't get to see much in terms of gameplay, but it did showcase one of the new locales that players will get to visit, as well as a terrifying new monster that will indeed cause hunters some trouble. At this time, Capcom has not shared details on the beast, but the company promises that more info on this monster, and other details, will be coming soon.

The Sunbreak expansion for Monster Hunter Rise won't just be adding a couple of new monsters and weapons, however. Capcom has confirmed that the content will include an all-new storyline, new gameplay elements, new locales, a new quest rank, and more. The original game already has way over 100 hours of content for players to sink their teeth into, and it seems possible that this lengthy expansion might possibly double that.

After hitting almost 10 million sold copies, it makes sense for Capcom to add more content to Monster Hunter Rise. And once the new expansion launches for both Switch and PC on the same day, there are bound to be even more sales. Monster Hunter Rise is already one of the GOTY contenders for 2021, and Sunbreak could end up being one of the best DLCs of 2022.

With Bayonetta 3, Splatoon 3, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2, and Kirby and the Forgotten Land all planned to release in 2022, the next year is looking stacked for Nintendo Switch owners.

Monster Hunter Rise is now available for Switch, with a PC port planned for early 2022.
