Monster Hunter Rise is the newest title in Capcom’s popular action RPG franchise. Over 4 million copies of Monster Hunter Rise shipped in the first week of its release, so there are plenty of gamers who could benefit from quickly locating the wildlife - such as the elusive Rock Lizard.

Players are likely to be in search of Rock Lizards early on in Monster Hunter Rise, either to complete an Endemic Life errand or in pursuit of the materials that they drop. Rock Lizards are bright and colorful, but because they are small, it can be helpful to know exactly where to look.

While visiting Kamura Village, players will interact with Senior Hunter Hanenaga, who tasks them with capturing a picture of one of these lizards in exchange for Great Wirebugs. Additionally, as a species of “Crafty Creature” - a subtype of Endemic Life that drops crafting materials when hunters kill them - Rock Lizards are one way to get Armor Spheres quickly in Monster Hunter Rise. Fortunately, fans can easily locate them in one of four areas in Shrine Ruins.

Rock Lizard Locations in Monster Hunter Rise

Three of the potential locations lie in the north section of the map, in the area of sections 9, 10, and 12. Players need to use the Wirebug - the newest gameplay mechanic in the franchise, and one of the best things about Monster Hunter Rise - to climb around the cliffs and rocks in these sections, keeping an eye out for lizards with purple and blue gems adorning their bodies. The fourth spawn point, and the only one that doesn’t require climbing, can be found on a wall in the northeast of section 7 (immediately about the number on the map). However, players may need to inspect each spot, as Rock Lizards aren’t likely to be found in all locations at any one time.

Once a specimen is found, players need to know how to use Photo Mode in Monster Hunter Rise if they are trying to complete the errand for Senior Hunter Hanenaga. After capturing the image, hunters can return to Kamura Village to receive their six Great Wirebugs. Otherwise, hunters can attack the creatures, who shed their gems (in the form of Armor Spheres) to distract their attacker and escape. These Armor Spheres are used as crafting materials for players to upgrade their armor.

Rock Lizards may also be found in the Flooded Forest, Frost Islands, Lava Caverns, and Sandy Plains. However, with Shrine Ruins being immediately accessible and easy to navigate, players who familiarize themselves with the potential spawn locations here will have a convenient, sustainable resource of Rock Lizards and their Armor Spheres.

Monster Hunter Rise is available now on Nintendo Switch and is planned for release on PC in 2022.
