Monster Hunter Rise, which was previously only available on PC and Nintendo Switch, is officially coming to PlayStation and Xbox consoles on January 20, 2023. PlayStation and Xbox ports of Monster Hunter Rise previously leaked online, and then an official Xbox Game Pass Twitter account jumped the gun with a post about it earlier today before the official reveal had a chance to take place.

Originally released as a Nintendo Switch exclusive, Monster Hunter Rise launched for Nintendo's home console/handheld system in 2020, earning mostly positive reviews from critics in the process. Capcom eventually brought Monster Hunter Rise to PC as well, but now it's making the jump to PlayStation and Xbox with some special enhancements specific to the next-gen versions of the cooperative monster hunting game.

When Monster Hunter Rise launches for PS5 and Xbox Series X on January 20, fans can look forward to 4K resolution at 60 FPS or 1080P resolution at 120 FPS. The game will also support 3D audio and will be available at a discounted price of just $39.99. Those who are signed up for Xbox Game Pass can play the game without paying anything beyond their usual subscription, with it set to be available across Xbox consoles, PC, and the cloud on day one.

The Monster Hunter Rise PlayStation and Xbox launch will not include the Sunbreak expansion out of the gate. Instead, Monster Hunter Rise fans will have to wait until a later date in Spring 2023 to play the Sunbreak content, which may be disappointing news for some, but it should give them time to properly prepare for the challenges the expansion has to offer.

While Sunbreak will be unavailable in Monster Hunter Rise's PlayStation and Xbox ports at launch, fans will at least be able to access all the content that was released for the Switch version after its initial launch. This includes the special Event Quests and crossovers with other franchises, so new Monster Hunter Rise players on PlayStation and Xbox can look forward to quests based on Street Fighter, Mega Man, and more.

Monster Hunter World was a massive success on PlayStation and Xbox, so it's no surprise that Capcom is bringing Monster Hunter Rise to those platforms as well. Many diehard Monster Hunter fans have likely played through it already on the Nintendo Switch, but this should open a whole new audience to the game, especially when taking its availability on Game Pass into account.

Monster Hunter Rise is available now for PC and Nintendo Switch with PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X versions launching January 20, 2023.
