Monster Hunter Rise launched for the Nintendo Switch in early 2021 to raving reviews all around. Thanks to the introduction of the Wirebug, plenty of new monsters, and a deeply engaging combat system, Monster Hunter Rise has managed to become one of the most pivotal games in Capcom's long-running series. And now that the game is coming to PC this week for the first time, many Steam players are wondering just when Monster Hunter Rise will release on PC.

While Capcom has yet to confirm the official release/unlock time for Monster Hunter Rise, there is a window of time that seems most appropriate for the game's Steam launch, based on prior release times for Monster Hunter products on PC.

Late last year, when Capcom released a free demo for Monster Hunter Rise on PC, it launched on Steam precisely at 12 PM ET on October 13. And before that, Capcom released the Iceborne expansion for Monster Hunter: World at 12 PM ET on the day of release. Since Capcom seems to like that release time of 12 PM ET, it makes sense for the PC port of Rise to launch at that time, too.

Monster Hunter Rise PC Release Time

dlc expansion 2024 20th anniversary plans

If the past is anything to go on, Monster Hunter Rise on PC should release around 12 PM ET on January 12, 2022, on Steam. For other time zones, players can look below.

  • 9 AM PT January 12
  • 10 AM MT January 12
  • 11 AM CT January 12
  • 4 PM GMT January 12
  • 5 PM BST January 12
  • 1 AM JST January 13

As mentioned previously, there have been no official details on the actual release time for Monster Hunter Rise on PC, so players should take this with a grain of salt. The game could potentially end up releasing after 12 PM PT (or perhaps even before the listed time).

Monster Hunter Rise's File Size on PC

Since keeping up with large game data files on PC can be a hassle, some players might be happy to know that Monster Hunter Rise on Steam only requires 23 gigabytes of free space. This is more than twice the amount of storage data needed to run Monster Hunter Rise on the Nintendo Switch, only about 10GB. But considering that the PC version will sport improved textures and visuals and a couple of other neat additions, it makes total sense as to the PC file size. PC players should ensure they have the required space on their hard drive before downloading/installing Monster Hunter Rise.

However, players should know that the upcoming Sunbreak expansion for Monster Hunter Rise will undoubtedly increase the game's total file size. However, the expansion will be paid, so players don't have to make the jump unless they would like to when the DLC launches for both PC and Switch this summer.

Monster Hunter Rise is available now on Switch, with its PC port launching on January 12, 2022.
