There is always another resource to find in Monster Hunter Rise. Whether players want to be the most efficient hunters or make their characters look amazing, the game always gives plenty of reasons to go on another hunt. Some of these resources are extremely rare and take a lot of work to get.

In Monster Hunter Rise, players can get Apex Venom Spike from Apex Rathian, a particularly terrifying beast that will appear during Rampage quests. To face Apex Rathian, players will need to keeping level up their Rampage quests until they get access to the 7 Star Rampages. Apex Venom Spike can then be obtained as a quest reward or by carving Apex Rathian's body after taking down the beast during a Rampage quest.

Apex Rathian is a very tough fight, and players will have a lot to contend with during Monster Hunter Rise's Rampage quests. Rampage missions are not just simple hunts but play out more like a tower defense mode. Players can place automated defenses, then take on waves of creatures that are trying to overrun the town. They can choose to man some defense themselves or just the risk of taking on the creatures with their weapons.

Apex Rathian is a flying creature, so the town's defenses will do a great job of damaging it, even as it flies around. It is weak to Dragon and Thunder damage while being resistant to Water and Ice, and completely immune to Fire damage. Players who are taking on Apex Rathian with friends will also benefit from having a Hunting Horn in their party.

While the weapons used during Rampages will always boil down to player preference, the various Bows in Monster Hunter Rise do offer the advantage of being able to hit Apex Rathian while it is in the area. Players who prefer to use melee-focused weapons will need to man the various defenses to damage the beast directly while it is airborne.

It is also strongly advised to deal with the smaller creatures that will accompany the Apex Rathian first, as if they are left unchecked, they can do considerable damage to the town gates and defenses, making it nearly impossible to deal with the larger monster. Finally, be ready to run to Apex Rathian's body and carve it when the fight is over, as players only get a limited amount of time to do so.

Monster Hunter Rise is now available for the Nintendo Switch. A PC port is expected to launch in early 2022.
