Monster Hunter Rise has a variety of unique weapons and armor sets to craft, but some crafting materials are harder to come by than others. It's not uncommon to find that almost every necessary material has been gathered, but there's just one item that seems to be more elusive than the rest. If an Alumudron plate is proving to be one such elusive item, then the following should hopefully help players snag one in Monster Hunter Rise.

Encountering Almudron

If players are on the hunt for an Almudron plate, then they've likely already encountered Almudron at least once before, but for those interested in getting some pre-emptive information, the following may be helpful. If doing village quests, then Almudron is first encountered in the urgent quest that unlocks the 6-star rank quest, entitled Hermit of the Swamp. If doing the hub quests, then Almudron is first encountered in the 3-star quest entitled Down 'n' Dirty.

Plate Drop Rate

Unfortunately, Almudron plates are one of the rarer drops for Almudron, which means it might take players several attempts to obtain one. That being said, there are ways to know what the odds of getting a plate are. Once a plate has been acquired, the drop rate for it will show up in the hunter's notes for Almudron. Players looking for their first plate will not have this information available to them. However, it is possible to figure it out via the process of elimination, as if every other material has been obtained and logged in the notes, then the drop rates listed for the mystery part is the drop rate of the plates.

list of drops for almudron

Those drop rates for a low-rank Almudron are as follows: 2% chance of dropping as a reward for completing the hunt, 3% chance for capturing Almudron, 3% chance for breaking Almudron's head, 1% chance from carving the body of Almudron, 3% chance from carving the tail of Almudron, and finally, a 1% chance of being a shiny drop. Given these stats, the best way to increase the chances of getting a plate are to break Almudron's head, cut its tail, capture it, and pick up any shiny drops it leaves.

High-rank Almudron, encountered in the 7-star hub quests A Muddy Invitation and Ruckus in the Ruins, has a different drop rate for plates. These rates are a 5% chance for completing the hunt, 5% chance for capturing Almudron, 5% chance for breaking its head, 3% chance from a body carve, 5% chance from a tail carve, and both a 3% and 1% chance of being a shiny drop. That last rate being seemingly contradictory presumably is due to the way the game rolls for drops.

Almudron plates are used in upgrading some of its weapons as well as for crafting the low-rank Almudron gauntlets. However, no plates are needed to craft the high-rank version of the armor.
