One of the main appeals of Monster Hunter is being able to hunt monsters, carve those same monsters, and then turn the monster's materials into powerful gear and weapons. Once players speak to the Smithy in Kamura Village, the hub of Monster Hunter Rise, they'll begin to notice that many of the weapon's initial upgrade paths will make players turn in some Machalite Ore, a material that's not found in the Shrine Ruins locale that players are first introduced to.

For those struggling to locate Machalite Ore in Monster Hunter Rise, this guide will go over three different locations where it can be mined in the Sandy Plains locale. The Sandy Plains is the third biome that hunters will have access to once they reach the three-star Village quests. To go explore the area, players can either take on a normal quest to go over there or they can choose to go on an expedition tour. Going on a tour allows players to explore the area without having to complete any tasks. There's also not a time limit, so players can go farm materials and then easily get back to the village whenever they please.

Mining for materials is simple in Monster Hunter Rise, as players are automatically equipped with a pickaxe this time around, unlike several previous entries in the series. Just go up to the Mining Outcrop locations and press the A button to gather three materials. The items aren't always guaranteed to show up, but if players go to these spots, they should find at least a few Machalite Ore. If not, players can always leave the area and then come back, as items will respawn.

The first spot that players can head to is this small ravine that's in-between areas 5 and 6, as players can see on the map in the image below.

The next spot is close by to the starting camp area, located on the west side of area 2.

And for the last mining spot, players should head far north to a cliff that's out in area 9. It's right in the northern corner of the area and shouldn't be hard to miss.

By checking out these mining spots, players should have gathered some Machalite Ore so they can upgrade their weapons and take on even tougher enemies in order to increase their hunter rank. If players want to change their weapon out with their newly upgraded one, they can do so by visiting one of the item boxes in the village.

Monster Hunter Rise is now available for the Nintendo Switch and a PC port is expected for early 2022.
